Making Ohbot speak

To make Ohbot speak drag a When Space key pressed block into the scripting area. Click on the drop down to select the letter A.
From the Speech menu drag two Say Hello until done blocks into the scripting area. Click on the word Hello and change it to what you would like Ohbot to say. Press A on the keyboard to run your code |

Making Ohbot speak more

You can continue to add text to your story by adding more Say until done blocks.
To add pauses between sentences use a wait block (from the Control palette) . To change the voice Ohbot speaks with use a Set Voice block (from the Speech palette) |

Programming Ohbot's lips to move with the speech
|
This sequence will run at the same time as the one for speech you have just created. You'll need Set TopLip and Set BottomLip blocks from the Motion palette. You'll need Toplip and BottomLip blocks from the Sensor palette. You'll need a forever instruction from the Control palette.
Press A on the keyboard to run both your speech sequence and the loop. You should see the Ohbot's lips move as it speaks. Press the red stop button before pressing A again, otherwise the forever loop will continue. |

Programming Ohbot to move randomly as it speaks
Here's one way of making Ohbot move randomly. It will set Ohbot's head nod and head turn to a random position between 0 (all the way one way) and 10 (all the way the other way) It will wait in that position for 1 second and then repeat.

If you would like Ohbot's lips to smile, frown or look surprised during gaps between speech shown here is one way to do it.
